Chicago Public Radio Tells the Story of Life "Inside and Out" of the Juvenile Justice System
Feb 3, 2010, Illinois Models for Change
Chicago Public Radio station WBEZ-FM has begun a series of reports examining how young people get caught up in the juvenile justice system, their life inside juvenile prisons and what happens to them when they leave prison.
WBEZ is devoting an unusual amount of airtime and resources to the series, “Inside and Out.” Many participants in the Models for Change initiative in Illinois have helped the producers and reporters gather information for the series and are included among those interviewed on the air.
Periodic reports and panel discussions will be broadcast over the course of the first half of 2010. Once aired, those broadcast are made available for listeners on the station’s website (http://insideandout.chicagopublicradio.org/).
The website includes a blog about the series, several research reports on a variety of juvenile justice issues nationally and in Illinois and links to websites of many reform advocate groups and relevant government agencies.
Visitors to the site also can join discussions about the stories in the series and other juvenile justice topics. Go to http://insideandout.chicagopublicradio.org/share-your-thoughts to join the discussion.
