Break in 'school-to-prison pipeline' urged

Rapides Parish has a long way to go to reduce its rate of blacks and other minorities in the criminal justice system and to improve those groups' performance at school, officials said Monday.
The biggest challenge in bringing down the overrepresentation of those groups in the justice system is lack of community and parental involvement, officials said at a luncheon designed to invite members of the community to get involved.
