The Campaign for Youth Justice is dedicated to ending the practice of trying, sentencing and incarcerating youth under 18 in the adult criminal justice system, and also to promoting effective programs and policies in juvenile justice systems to help youth turn their lives around.
The Campaign partners with parents, youth and families as well as state and local efforts to reform excessively harsh and ineffective state policies that send youth to the adult criminal justice system. On the national level, the Campaign is working with national partners on the Act 4 Juvenile Justice campaign to reauthorize the Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA) especially to promote federal legislation to provide resources and assistance to states to keep youth out of adult facilities, and strengthen juvenile justice systems.
With funding support in part from the MacArthur Foundation, the Campaign produces research and public education materials on the problems associated with trying, sentencing and incarcerating youth in the adult system.
